Dr. Ahmad Islam is currently an IEEE Senior Member and volunteers for numerous IEEE activities (as a member of the IEEE EDS Educational Activities Committee, as Secretary and Professional Activities Committee of the IEEE Dayton Section, as an Editor for IEEE Electron Device Letter and IEEE Transactions on Materials for Electron Devices, and as a reviewer for multiple IEEE Journals and Conference Committees). Dr. Islam is a recognized subject matter expert in electronic devices, focusing on semiconductor devices, high temperature electronics, dielectric integration, and device reliability. He co-authored a book chapter on device reliability for the IEEE EDS’s 75th Anniversary of Transistor commemorative book and co-supervised two M.S. theses and three Ph.D. theses, authored and co-authored over 100 journal and conference proceedings, and given numerous invited talks at national and international meetings.

Dr. Islam is a Senior Electronics Engineer and a Research Team Lead at the Electronic Devices Branch (RYDD) of Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL), Sensors Directorate. Before joining AFRL/RYDD, he worked on various microelectronics projects at AFRL contracted via KBR, Inc. and UES, Inc. He graduated from Purdue University in 2010 with a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and was the recipient of National Research Council (NRC) Postdoctoral Fellowship in 2014, an Intel Foundation Ph.D. Fellowship in 2009, an IEEE EDS Ph.D. Fellowship in 2008, and the Kintar-Ul-Haque Gold Medal (Summa Cum Laude in 2005) from the Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology.
