Eric Grigorian, P.E., is Chief of GTRI Applied System Laboratory’s (ASL) Architecture and System Development Division (ASDD). He brings nearly 41 years of engineering expertise to GTRI and the larger engineering community. Since joining GTRI in 2015, he has led advanced research and development in model-based systems engineering (MBSE), modeling, and simulation. ASDD plays an important role in supporting the development of U.S. Army Aviation rotorcraft and uncrewed platforms, helping to shape the future of military technology. Grigorian has led cross-domain engineering efforts including international teams, driving innovation and delivering cutting-edge solutions meeting the evolving needs of military and commercial clients. His work in MBSE has significantly improved processes, reduced costs, and accelerated design and implementation timelines for complex systems. Before joining GTRI, Grigorian held leadership positions in the defense and commercial sectors, including Director of Engineering and Manufacturing at Yulista Aviation and VP of Engineering and Manufacturing at AAR Integrated Technologies.

Grigorian’s technical achievements have been recognized with numerous awards. At GTRI, he received the Distinguished Performance Award in Program Development. IEEE has honored him with the James Beall SoutheastCon Recognition Award and the Outstanding Engineer of the Year Award for Region 3. His alma mater, the University of Alabama in Huntsville, presented him with the 2020 Alumni of Achievement Award, noting his lasting impact on the engineering community.

He holds 2 US Utility patents. He has been an IEEE volunteer for 45 years, starting with IEEE UAH Student Branch’s Treasurer to his current position as IEEE Member & Geographic Activity (MGA) VP-Elect. Additionally, he is the current Past Region 3 Director, Past Chair of IEEE Audit Committee and serves on various IEEE committees.

He serves several external technical organizations including Vertical Flight Society (VFS), Association for Uncrewed Vehicle Systems International (AUVSI), Army Aviation Association of America (AAAA), and Association of the United States Army (AUSA).
