Hon. Shenise Turner-Sloss

Mayor, City of Dayton, Ohio

Shenise Turner-Sloss is a devoted wife and mother of three from Dayton. She is a proud alumnus of Dayton Public Schools, holding a Bachelor of Arts degree in Political Science from Fisk University and a Master of Science degree in Administration from Central Michigan University. She is a graduate of Parity, Inc.’s Leadership Training and the Dayton Urban League Young Professionals, and a member of, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., Matriots, and the Working Families Party. She has served on boards for the African American Community Fund, Sunlight Village, and cofounded Neighborhoods Over Politics, a training and advocacy organization focused on neighborhood redevelopment and economic sustainability.

With more than a decade of experience in local and federal government, she has developed expertise in logistics, community development, and program management. Currently, she serves as a Logistics Management Specialist at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, where she is a proud member of AFGE Local 1138.

On January 3, 2022, Turner-Sloss made history as only the third Black woman to serve on the Dayton City Commission. On January 5, 2026, she began a four-year term as Mayor of Dayton, becoming only the second Black woman and the third woman overall to hold the office.
