Taiga Sakai leads the agri-food domain of the NTT Group, a global provider of ICT, data center, AI, and network services. As President of NTT AgriTechnology Corporation—the Group’s sole company dedicated to the agri-food business — he drives operations across smart agriculture, high-tech horticulture, and agricultural DX (digital transformation).

Over many years within the NTT Group, he has been engaged in the creation of new businesses, leading the launch of multiple companies. Today, through the operation of the company’s own farms and collaboration with regional partners, he works to solve challenges on the production front while advancing the sophistication of agriculture and the realization of sustainable food production by data and digital technologies.

Drawing on extensive experience in the fields of IoT and private networks, he promotes the creation of new values through the convergence of communications and digital technology with agriculture. He also serves as an External Advisor to the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry and Fisheries, a Visiting Professor at Tokyo University of Technology, and an Honorary Chair Professor at National Ilan University in Taiwan, applying a broad industry-academia-government perspective to the real-world implementation of smart agriculture.
